Back Soon!

Sorry for the prolonged absence but I’ve been working away on a lot of things behind the scenes. My Personal Tutor will be back soon with a new look and some fantastic new resources.

In the meantime why not leave a comment letting me know what the biggest problem is for you with regard to your student’s education?

What do you need most help with to help them?

What do they need the most help with?

Remember you’re not alone and neither you nor your student needs to struggle. We’re here to help:)

The Latest News

My Personal Tutor has been offline for the past few months due to an injury and illness. We will reopen in September 2011 with a new look, new resources and new courses – all online.

For the time being we have deleted the Forum because sadly spammers had overrun it in our absence and had been posting materials that were totally and completely inappropriate for a child friendly site. There may be a member only forum to go with the new MPT site in September.

Please bear with us for the next couple of months whilst we sort things out. It will be worth the wait:)

Homeschool Gift Ideas

Save $10 Off ClickN READ Phonics and ClickN SPELL

This post is a little unusual in that I’m posting some links to some pretty cool offers regarding homeschool products that would make ideal gifts for homeschoolers or even for those who just want to provide a little more support for their children.

The Old Schoolhouse is one of my favourite homeschool places to visit. I subscribe to their digital magazine and it is a real treasure trove of advice, resources and some peace and quiet reading time! They have a variety of offers which are described below and then I’ve added the links for you in case you want to check them out some more.

The Resource Store is Open!

It’s been tested and appears to be working but of course, it’s early days and there may be hidden glitches. However, we’ll continue to work on the performance, appearance and adding stock to ensure that we provide you with the best shopping experience possible.

Over the weekend more digital downloads (including many freebies) will be added and during the November sale all digital downloads are reduced by 50%. Winter and Christmas themed items should start appearing shortly too for those of you wishing to get ready for seasonal activities, topics, themes and displays.

Resource Store: Update

I took the store off maintenace mode so that I could try and purchase some downloadable materials to ensure that everything was working. Result? An error page. The only way I can actually get the store to display is to have it in maintenance mode! While it’s down I’ll continue to keep adding products and to try and iron out the problems.

Thank you for your patience. The wait will be worth it.

The Resource Store – Nearly Ready

Having spent ages trying to sort and stock the Resource Store suddenly the whole store crashed! I’m so sorry but the grand opening is slightly delayed. I shall be continuing to trouble shoot tomorrow and hopefully it will be live sometime tomorrow. I will keep you posted on its progress. Due to the problems I’ve been experiencing with it there aren’t many live products as yet but once I’m sure it is working then I can add more downloadable products as well as the new and used resources.

Removing Barriers: Alternatives to Written Recording

For many children with different types of AEN being asked to write can prove a major obstacle to learning. Writing can be a physical or emotional challenge. By removing the emphasis from written recording these students can gain access to the curriculum and be as successful in their own eyes as their peers. Most of these methods can be used successfully with individuals, pairs, groups or even the whole class as they allow for children with different learning styles to access the curriculum successfully. By not always using written methods of recording you are also allowing students to develop other skills such as cooperative working, peer mentoring or ICT skills.
